Ecobank covets Trust Bank

Ecobank, having headquarters in Togo, has taken a significant stake in Trust Bank (TTB), one of the largest banks in Ghana.If the acquisition gets the green light by the authorities in Accra, it together will become No.1 in the country.

"Both the banks want to develop synergies in order to anticipate the development of financial services in Ghana and the region," said Arnold Ekpé on Tuesday, the president of Ecobank. Mr. Ekpé also serves on the Board of TPIAC (Togo Presidential Investment Advisory Council), the Board of Investment established in March by the Togolese President Faure Gnassingbé. 

TTB, established 17 years ago, is a retail bank with departments specializing in assisting companies and exporters.
