Azerbaijani President, Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev (photo)held an audience this friday in NYC with Togolese FM Elliott Ohin.Mr. Ohin took part in a senior-level debate dedicated to the fight against terrorism organized on the occasion of Azerbaïdjan's rotating presidency of the UNSC.
Lomé and Baku established formal diplomatic relations at the end of 2010.
During the meeting, Minister Ohin expressed his desire to strengthen the political and economic cooperation with this major oil producing nation which enjoys a 20% annual economic growth.
Elmar Mammadyarov, the boss of Azerbaijani diplomacy took part in the meeting along with Togolese and Azerbaijani UN representatives Kodjo Menan et Agshin Mehdiyev respectively.
Azerbaijan became an independent nation following the collapse of the USSR in august 1991.
