“France and Togo are committed together, with other African countries, in Mali since January. This joint operation illustrates a convergence of views between Paris and Lome in the fight against terrorists groups, who attempted at the beginning of the year to take control of the entire Malian territory and if they had succeeded, would had destabilized the entire West African region. The rapid deployment of the Togolese contingent, the first arriving there to support French troops, also shows the excellence of our countries bilateral cooperation in matter of defense and security.”
Those are the words of the Ambassador of France in Togo, Nicolas Warnery (photo), published in the latest issue of the Newsletter of the Embassy.
On the political front, the diplomat mentions the holding of the coming legislative and local elections. He expects from these polls “ more stability, and predictability above all for Togo, but also for our cooperation projects, for the activity our companies, and our fellow compatriots living in this country.”
