Italy's ENI, which landed a contract, in October 2010, for exploration and production in Togo, prepares to launch a phase called "3D seismic exploration,"
"We must first identify the potential deposits and assess their importance before any production. We have already carried out all geological studies. All this data will be collected and analyzed for 6 months. If it turns out to be positive, the production will start in stride, "said the director of ENI for Togo, Andrea Marsanich.
The probability of finding black gold is real, it's also the reason that ENI has decided to invest. In neighboring Ghana, which shares the same basin, the production has already begun.
The group, in which the Italian Government holds more than one third of the capital, was granted 100% exploration of blocks 1 and 2 located in the Dahomey Basin, in October 2010.
