Togolese President Faure Gnassingbe on Tuesday met a delegation from the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), lauding the friendship between Togo and China.
While meeting with the Chinese delegation led by Chen Haosu, head of the CPAFFC, Gnassingbe expressed happiness with cooperation in all areas between Togo and China. He said he appreciated China's positions on the global financial crisis and climate change.
Togo will always stand side by side with China on important international issues, Gnassingbe said.
Chen praised Gnassingbe's role in national reconciliation and economic development and lauded the Togolese government's stance on promoting the integration of Africa and on important international issues.
China and Togo, as developing countries, should join hands in face of the current difficulties. The international community, meanwhile, should continue to help Africa, Chen said.
