Ohin in NYC for Syria debate

The Togolese FM, Elliott Ohin (photo), was expected to arrive in New York on thursday where he will take part in a meeting of the UNSC on the Syrian crisis.The meeting was called for by France who is assuming the rotating presidency of the Council during the month of August. He will meet his French and British counterparts, Laurent Fabius and William Hague.

Togo is a non-permanent member of the UNSC.

Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq and Turkey, who all share a border with Syria, will send a minister to the meeting at the behest of French FM Fabius. 

The High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Gutierrez and the new UN and Arab League mediator, Lakhdar Brahimi, will also be present.
