President Faure Gnassingbé arrived in New York on Sunday evening. He is due at the UNSC on Monday in order to lead an executive meeting dedicated to the stakes of the war against terror in Africa, peacekeeping and international security. Togo is assuming the rotating presidency of the UNSC during the month of May.
The war against terror is a strategic imperative to guarantee the stability of the continent. One just needs to observe the islamist violence striking Algeria, Mali, Libya or Nigeria to understand that only a coordinated international action will eradicate the islamist militia spreading terror and violence.
That is the reason why the President strongly hopes that Monday's debates will allow finding solutions to strengthen cooperation in that domain.
