A Forum on Social Protection in Togo started on Monday in Lomé. It brings together some sixty advisers from ministries of labor, development at the base, Social Affairs, Finance and Planning.
The purpose of the meeting is to consider all means to ensure better protection for the most disadvantaged population.
The government has already established health insurance, but it wants to go further.
"The construction of social protection is a priority, relevant and hopeful but also full of challenges," said Dédé Ahoefa Ekoué, the minister in charge of Planning. And the challenges are, particularly financial.
Therefore, the authorities rely on support from donors like the World Bank, UNICEF, UNDP and the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
