Togolese envoy assures on transparent parliamentary elections

Necessary measures have been put in place to guarantee free and fair parliamentary elections in Togo on 24 June, according to Togolese ambassador to Belgium, Felix Kodjo Sagbo (photo).

Addressing the Togolese nationals living in Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg, here Friday at a ceremony to mark Togo's 47th independence anniversary, the envoy said hundreds of police officers had been trained to provide security during elections.Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) were also being trained on poll duties including the processing of computer data, Sagbo said.

He thanked the European Union for providing Togo with financial assistance to organise the elections.
