Arab funds for Togolese roads

The Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), Kuwait Fund, Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi have agreed to finance a part of the renovation of the road-Kpalimé Atakpamé.
An agreement was signed on Wednesday in this regard by Dédé Ahoéfa Ekoué, Minister of Planning.
Andjo Tchamdja, the Minister of Public Works, assures that the profitability of this route, full Plateau region renowned for cash crops, especially coffee and cocoa, has led to the decision of the Arab Fund.
With a length of 120km, the Kpalimé-Atakpamé axis has already received state funding; donors defraying the construction of 80km.
Togo has been engaged for two years in the renovation of its road network which had become outdated, with lack of maintenance.Major efforts are underway in the interiors of the country and in the capital.
