Togo, who chairs the Security Council in May, organizes Monday in New York a high-level meeting on the challenges of counter-terrorism in Africa for peacekeeping and international security.
In addition to the Council’s fifteen members, representatives of countries sitting in the General Assembly will also participate to the discussions. The fight against terrorism is a priority for the continent. It suffices to observe what is happening in Algeria, Mali, Libya, or in Nigeria to understand that only concerted international action will succeed against the Islamists militias.
Togo hopes that Monday’s debate will allow identifying ways to strengthen cooperation in this field.
