Brice Hortefeux sign water, medical agreements with Togo

Togo and France inked two agreements on Thursday to help the West African country with clean drinking water and anti-AIDS medications.

The documents were signed during a visit by French Immigration Minister Brice Hortefeux (photo).Under an agreement, the French Development Agency will provide 11 million euros (16.5 million U.S. dollars) to help Lome, the capital of Togo, boost its ability to provide drinking water. The aid is an addition to the emergency funding of 10.5 million dollars by the West African Development Bank for the same purpose.

France is to provide another 750,000 euros (1 million U.S. dollars) under the second agreement to purchase and distribute anti-retroviral medications for HIV/AIDS patients in Togo.
