On Thursday, French President Emmanuel Macron held talks with Togolese President Faure Gnassingbé on the sidelines of the 80th anniversary commemorations of the Provence Landing. 

An International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission conducted discussions with Togo from May 29 to June 7 as part of the 2024 Article IV consultation. The IMF issued a statement following the mission, noting significant economic progress in the country.

Togolese lawmakers adopted a new constitution on Monday, moving the country from a presidential to a parliamentary system.

The African Political Alliance (APA) was launched in May 2023 at the initiative of Togo, aiming to create an informal framework for cooperation among countries sharing the ideals of pan-Africanism and those determined to work towards a politically strong, independent, self-assured, and non-aligned Africa.

China will continue to firmly support Togo in safeguarding its sovereignty, security and development interests, China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi said.

In a dynamic move during the 64th ECOWAS summit in Abuja, Nigeria, the ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States) designated President Faure Gnassingbé as the mediator to facilitate discussions with the new authorities in Niger.
