The Togolese authorities will make arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony of the re-elected president, Faure Gnassingbe, before the end of his current term on May 3, a government statement said on Tuesday.
The Constitutional Court has made a ruling that the president-elect "could take an oath either within 15 days after the declaration of the final results or, before the end of the current term which is until May 3, 2010," the statement said.
The decision was made by the government at a cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
Gnassingbe was re-elected with 60.88 percent of votes in the March 4 election. The Constitutional Court published the final results on March 18.
