The US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton adressed a message of congratulations to Faure Gnassingbé on behalf of President Barack Obama on the occasion of Togo's 52nd Independence Day.
In the message, Secretary Clinton conveyed her wishes to the people of Togo and stressed that during her recent trip to Lomé she could see for herself the strides the nation has made in matters of effective governance, development and democratization.
The Secretary of State declared herself impatient to " pursue our collaboration to further democratization efforts and economic gains". She hopes pursuing efforts with Togo at the UNSC to further issues of mutual interest such as maritime security and the fight against piracy".
Hillary Clinton repeated what he had already said during her January visit to Lomé : " Togo is a friend and partner with whom we are committed to build a better futire for all Togolese".
