"We're the best candidate city for Olympics 2018." This was said, on Monday in Lomé, by Katarina Witt (photo), double Olympic and quadruple world champion in figure skating, and Chairperson of the Nominating Committee in Munich.
"Germany is a reference in organizing the Winter Olympics and the concept of 2018 happens to be a continuation of what had been done," she declared.
For the former champion, Munich 2018 meets the challenges with the guarantee of full stadiums, a fantastic atmosphere and carbon-neutral Olympic games, a first.
Two other cities aspire to host the Winter Games, Pyeongchang in South Korea and Annecy in France, whose representatives are also in Togo to convince the members of the African Olympic Committees meeting at the General Assembly in Lomé since Sunday.
