The Japanese Ambassador to Togo had a narrow escape. Yoshifumi Okamura, who had a residency in Abidjan, saw his villa in Cocody, being invaded on Wednesday morning by a horde of militiamen in the pay of the former President Laurent Gbagbo. After violating the diplomatic compound, they placed a gun on the roof of the building before looting everything inside.
Mr. Okamura and his 7 employees spent the day as refugees in a secure room before a helicopter intervention of the Force Licorne and UN in the evening.
