Dos Santos optimistic about strengthening of cooperation with Togo

Angolan Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, said Tuesday in Luanda that the first trip to Angola of a President of Togo shows the start of a new era of relations between the two countries.

José Eduardo dos Santos was speaking at the opening of official talks between the delegations of Angola and Togo, in the light of the visit the Togolese president, Faure Gnassingbe (photo), started Tuesday."I'm sure that from now onwards our friendship ties will be strengthened and consolidated, with a mutual benefit for our peoples", added José Eduardo dos Santos.

The president stated that during his two-day stay in Angola, his counterpart and the delegation accompanying him will observe the new reality of peace and reconstruction being experienced by the country and the immense possibilities ahead for a broad and mutually advantageous cooperation.

The two Statesmen held a private meeting at which they analysed aspects relating to the current social, economic and political situation in the respective countries and others concerning the African continent and the world.

After his arrival, the President of Togo, Faure Gnassingbe laid a wreath by the monument of the first and late Angolan Head of State, António Agostinho Neto, at the Independence square.
