Men of the Ghanaian customs service have arrested an ex-Seaman Kweku Esuman, on the Ghana-Togo border with about five kilograms of a substance believed to be cocaine.
Customs officer Ben Suuri, said on Wednesday Esuman, 54, was arrested in a car Tuesday, on his way from Aflao, the main Ghanaian border town near the Togolese capital, Lome.A search on a bag he was carrying revealed four parcels of the substance suspected to be cocaine, which suspect said a man in Accra had asked him to collect from another man.
Esuman and the driver of the car are undergoing further investigations.
Ghana has been battling with narcotic drug imports of late with huge quantities coming in by sea for which a number of suspects are on trial.
