Beninese Head of state, Boni Yayi, is expected on Thursday in Kara, Togo, to attend the first Beninese-Togolese summit on energy to be held the same day in the area.
During his stay, Yayi will launch along with his Togolese counterpart, Faure Gnassingbé, the Atakpamé-Kara connection that is expected to enhance electricity supply to the northern region of Togo.Electricity used by Benin and Togo is managed by Benin's Electric Community (CEB ), a company set up to produce, distribute, and sell electricity at low cost to b oth countries.
The company has, however, been experiencing serious difficulties for a few years now and owes several billion CFA francs in debts.
