Togo beats Sierra Leone 3-1

Emmanuel Adebayor scored two goals and set up another Saturday to give Togo a 3-1 win over Sierra Leone in an African Cup of Nations qualifier.

Adebayor headed in the first goal in 37th minute, and then set up Adekambi Olufade for another in the second half.Kallon Mohamed got one back for the visitors in the 77th, but Adebayor headed in another in the 85th off a cross from Olufade.

Adebayor said he received death threats before the match.

"Thank God I scored two goals," Adebayor said. "I do not know what will happen to me if I had not scored those goals."

Adebayor is regarded as a soccer idol in Togo, but has recently been the object of controversy for allegedly encouraging his teammates to make exorbitant demands on the Togo Football Federation.

"I am going back to Arsenal in London to reflect and think about my future. I have to protect my life. I have a family to look after," Adebayor said.

Togo, which qualified for last year's World Cup but was eliminated in the first round, has six points in Group 9. Sierra Leone is last with only one point.
