The remaining Togolese delegation, including the national soccer team, were late Monday flown home while grieving the death of 19 of their compatriots.
Earlier in the day, 19 Togolese soccer officials including Sports minister Richard Attipoe were killed after an helicopter they were travelling in crashed at the Freetown International Airport.Secretary-General of the Sierra Leonean Football Association, Alimu Bah, said the 60 Togolese left aboard a presidential plane sent to Sierra Leone by their President, Gnassingbe Eyadema.
They were accompanied to the airport by Sierra Leone's Transport Minister Prince Harding, Deputy Defense Minister, Joe Blell, and Finance Minister John Oponjo Benjamin.
