The Belgian government has removed Togo from the red list of risk countries not to be associated with, the ambassador of Togo in Brussels, Félix Kodjo Sagbo, announced here Sunday.
The Belgian government took this decision after the announcement of the lifting of European sanctions against Togo, which is even going to benefit from the remainders accrued since the EU took these measures against it in 1993.Brussels recently notified the Togolese government the release of funds under the European Development Fund (EDF) and the System for the stabilisation of agricultural export earnings (Stabex).
Togo is moving towards the organisation of parliamentary elections in a climate of appeasement after the conclusion of the August 2006 Comprehensive Political Agreement in 0uagadougou (Burkina Faso) and the setting up of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
