The new Catholic Archbishop of Lome is Fr. Denis Komivi Amuzu-Dzakpah, until now vicar general of the archdiocese and secretary of the nation's bishops' conference.
Archbishop-elect Amuzu-Dzakpah, 63, Archbishop Philippe Fanoko Kossi Kpodzro, whose resignation from the pastoral care of the same archdiocese, the Holy Father accepted, upon having reached the age limit.Amuzu-Dzakpah was born in Kpogame Tahasi, Togo, in 1943 and ordained priest in 1972.
The Archdiocese of Lome has 1,535,000 people; about 436,263 of them are Catholic, served by 175 priests and 494 religious.
