Ladies and Gentlemen,

I would like, on behalf of the President of the Republic of Togo, H.E. Mr. Faure Gnassingbe Essozimna to tell you how the government and the Togolese people are happy to be a part in this 17th Asia Construct in New Delhi.

Indeed, the President of the Republic prevented instructed me to represent him in your midst to signify the importance he attaches to this meeting.

Togo and India have always had historical relations of friendship and cooperation that prove sufficiently the determination of the leaders of our two countries to work together to continually improving the quality of our ties.

The agreements signed between the two countries are positive proof that can be said that India remains one of the privileged partners of Togo in its march towards economic, social and technical development. Whether in the field of health, energy and agriculture, India has always responded to the Government of Togo to accompany and support him.

As elsewhere, Togo has had a difficult time both politically and economically. But thanks to the commitment and the mobilization of citizens, political and civil society actors, we have resolutely turned a page and are committed to the future by equipping us with a vision that now included the obligation of results on the pediment of the city.

The government's strategy, drawing lessons from its recent past, is to continue strengthening the democratic gains, under the democratic governance and economic development and modernization of infrastructure while relying on the growth sectors in order to fund more social sectors for the benefit of the people.

Thus, since 2006, successive reforms in Togo in the economic and financial sector and in the economic and social sectors are to create a new country reconciled with itself and with its partners.

In this movement forward, we expect actually to run with the knowledge of emerging countries that you represent the following projects:

- a Central African sub-regional research on low-cost housing;
 - a project of 20,000 social housing in the locality of Zanguéra;
 -  a draft of the new administrative and financial pole Lomé II.

My country has great hopes on the social changes taking place in your respective countries through your creative genius and especially that of your leaders and invites you to share during this meeting the positive results of your research with your brothers in this room.

I would like to take this opportunity to express to you the gratitude of the Togolese people for the efforts that your governments are making to support Togo in its reconstruction process.

I therefore wish in the same time to extend to you an invitation to discover our potential and especially the vision of rebuilding the country promoted by the Togolese Head of State.

My anticipated wish is also to see this 3-day deliberations result in fruitful partnerships for the happiness of our respective countries.
