30% of the energy consumed by the Compagnie Electrique du Togo (CEET) is directly generated by the new power station in Lomé. This was indicated by Yann Beutler (photo), on Thursday, the director general of the ContourGlobal operator for Togo.
"If the plant had not existed, this 30% of the population would have been in the dark and could have resulted in almost 50% of load shedding during peak hours," said Dr. Beutler.
Six months after its launch, the station shows positive results, being consistent with its forecasts.
"ContourGlobal involved in major power distribution in Togo, and also in Benin," said Yann Beutler, because the plant provides the CEB, the operator common to both countries.
ContourGlobal is an American company specializing in energy, was welcomed for its power project in Lomé, financial support from the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC, U.S. government) and IFC (World Bank Group).
